Business Mobility Pact
for the City of Lisbon

Challenge
Urban mobility is undergoing a profound transformation driven by technological and cultural changes. Citizens and governments are looking for greener and more efficient solutions to meet their mobility needs while protecting the planet.
However, no city, institution or company can tackle this challenge alone. Collaboration is vital to achieve the goal of catalyzing actions that make mobility in the city more sustainable.
Summary
The Business Mobility Pact for the City of Lisbon (PMEL) is a commitment promoted by the WBCSD, Lisbon City Council (CML), BCSD Portugal and the signatory companies and institutions.
It aims to contribute to more sustainable mobility in the city of Lisbon through concrete actions to which companies commit, in interaction with the City Council, their employees, suppliers and customers. Through the adoption of new measures, behaviours and solutions, in cooperation with the local authority, the PMEL will stimulate actions aimed at optimizing and decarbonizing the operations and fleets of the different entities, promoting the diversification and integration of the modalmix, and promoting the growth of the use of collective and inclusive multimodal transport.
Objectives
The aim of the Business Mobility Pact for the City of Lisbon is to stimulate the role of companies in achieving greater mobility:
- Ecological: contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions (at least a 50% reduction by 2030 compared to 1990 levels), as well as reducing polluting gases and improving air quality;
- Inclusive: to encourage the development of mobility plans aimed at providing all employees of PMEL member companies with sustainable and accessible mobility solutions;
- Efficient: promoting partnerships, incentives and digital platforms that allow all the aforementioned employees to have shorter commuting times, with greater comfort and less expense;
- Safe: promoting safe and responsible behavior, in line with public policies and the "zero deaths" objective.
